Discover the Art of Glass Imagery with Heather Wood

This October, we’re thrilled to welcome Heather Wood, a beloved Elora glass artist, back to our studio for a one-day workshop: Creating Imagery on Glass with Vitreous Enamels.

About Heather

Heather Wood is no stranger to the Elora arts community. A graduate with Distinction from the University of Waterloo with a Studio Specialization in Sculpture, she has exhibited her work across Canada and the U.S., with commissions for institutions such as Imax, Bank of Montreal, and Wilfrid Laurier University. As an educator, she has shared her expertise through the Royal Conservatory’s Living Through the Arts Program, the Ontario Arts Council’s Artists in Schools, and workshops at leading art centres including the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery and the Haliburton School of Art.

What to Expect at the Workshop

This is a hands-on day of play and exploration. Heather will guide students through the essentials of working with vitreous enamels; how to mix them, apply them with brushes and tools, and experiment with both additive and subtractive techniques.

By the end of the day, participants will take home their own set of flat glass pieces showcasing your experiments in texture, layering, and imagery.

Elora Art Scene

Elora has long been a hub for Canadian artists and makers, where glass, clay, paint, and fibre traditions continue to thrive. Workshops like this one are part of keeping that spirit alive, and provide a chance to build technical skills, experiment with new methods, and join Elora’s vibrant arts community.
